If you’re a ‘regular’ here at Car Articles, you’ll know that I am a big fan of everything Lotus. The reason is quite simple – Lotus make absolutely cracking little sports cars with a purity of purpose that few other manufacturers match. The Exige is a prime example of this and the Scura that you seen above is a special edition from Hethel that’s certainly got my mouth watering and my hands twitching to get behind the wheel.
The Scura (or dark in Italian) is also known as the Stealth, as the matt black paintwork you can see is clearly inspired by various stealth style airplanes such as the F117. Also readily apparent are the equally dark forged black alloys which look absolutely tremendous – almost as good as those on the Lamborghini Reventon!
Inside, there’s plenty of carbon fibre about meaning that weight is quite low (weight is low as a given in a Lotus anyway really) – a reduction of around 10kgs has been made over the standard car. This brings the Scura in a positively lightweight 925kgs, meaning the 1.8 litre turbo’ed Toyota engine will roar you to 60 in 4.1 seconds.
Naturally, if you take any kind of enjoyment from driving whatsoever then you’re probably hoping that Santa will work some magic and provide you with a lovely new Lotus Exige Scura. Your Santa had better be extremely well off though (as well as a good Lotus customer) as there are only going to be 35 – for the world! Naturally though, you could always go custom if you’ve got more money than sense…
