Most people want a car that’s decent in every area, from driving dynamics to performance to styling. That’s because, simply put, we can’t all afford a people carrier every day and a Ferrari at the weekend. Which is where the Peugeot 207 Economique comes in. With a 1.6 litre, 90bhp engine, the car is no slouch, but emits only 99g/km of CO2. Fantastic.
What about fuel consumption? Well, how does 74.3mpg sound to you? It sounds to me like you won’t have to visit the pumps very often, which in today’s climate can only be a very, very good thing indeed. Apparently, the level of efficiency and low emissions is down to the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation system), which is a new development for Peugeot.
Naturally, a bunch of other features such as low rolling resistance tyres and a gear change indicator are included, but they’re really the icing on the cake. Very well done Peugeot – a more than commendable effort that makes hybrids seem a little unwarranted (what with their harmful batteries).
Don’t worry, we’re not going all soft round here at Car Articles – there’s a certain Lamborghini Reventon drop top that I’ll be discussing later this weekend. In fact, it’s so damn good just looking at the thing is like Christmas come early!
