This is one of the most powerful supercars (hypercars if you want to be particular) ever made – this is the Koenigsegg Agera. I couldn’t help but take this snippet from the official site as it describes this wonderful piece of engineering so well:
“The Agera name set the tone for the new project. Agera means “to take action” in Swedish. It is also short for the ancient Greek word Ageratos which means “ageless”. These are both suitable meanings for a car that is building the future of Koenigsegg.”
Everything about this car is extremely well thought out. From the amount of slippery aerodynamics (only Cd 0.33 in high speed mode and Cd 0.37 in track mode), to the dedicated engine, transmission, brakes and more, nothing about this car is simple or off the shelf. In fact, it is all totally bespoke and even more impressive for the fact that Koenigsegg is such a newly-born company.
For 2012 – power is at a peak of 960 bhp. Torque is over 1,000 Nm. 0-62 is reached in 3 seconds. Top speed? Over 250 miles per hour. Carbon fibre with aluminium honeycomb and integrated fuel tanks? Check and standard. Huge brakes and overall ability? Yes – this car has it all.
So, perhaps the only question is, how much does it cost? The answer of course is the perennial one – if you have to ask, you can’t afford it!
