No you dummy, the car, not Jodie Kidd… A breathtaking spectacle at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls was put on to greet the arrival of Maserati’s latest creation: the GranCabrio. Lots of stars were, naturally, out for the spectacle and I’m sure it more than impressed. For my money, I’ll take the wheels…
Here’s the lowdown on the car from Maserati:
“The Maserati GranCabrio represents the very essence of Maserati in terms of open-top cars: from the unmistakable Pininfarina style to the spacious interior, from the craftsmanship of each detail to the driving pleasure and four real seats, so that the rear passengers are not merely supporting actors, but co-stars of the journey. The Maserati GranCabrio, the convertible with the longest wheelbase on the market, features a 4.7 litre V8 delivering 440 HP, a maximum torque of 490Nm and a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It reaches a top speed of 175 mph and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds.”
So – fast, comfortable, roomy and able – what more could you want in a car? Maybe Jodie Kidd alongside you in the passenger seat?
The first right-hand drive examples of the Maserati GranCabrio will reach the UK showrooms in April 2010 and prices will be confirmed nearer the release date – but don’t expect much change from £120,000 is my estimate.
