November 19, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

In what has been seen by many in the business as the ‘dream team‘, McLaren have announced their new driver for the GP 2010 season – none other than Mr Jenson Button. So, what’s the story? Well, after Mercedes bought a controlling stake in Brawn, things got a lot more complicated. Talk from insiders very […]

Sebastien Loeb Wins Sixth World Title

Sébastien Loeb snatched the World Rally Championship by a single point at the weekend in a dramatic final rally of the season in Wales. Starting the Rally of Great Britain a point behind Mikko Hirvonen, Loeb held his nerve to lead from start to finish to secure a famous victory, his 54th overall, and a […]

Racing 101: What Happens When The Safety Car Comes Out?

October 11, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

This is the first in a new series of articles for Car Articles, where I examine incidents that happen during racing. Some articles will be common to motorsport events of various types, others will be specific to particular types of racing. I’ve named the new section Racing 101. So, safety cars. The purpose of a […]

The BTCC 2009 Has Now Concluded…

October 4, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

And this year’s winner is none other than Northern Ireland’s own Colin Turkington. In what was to be one of the closest races ever, Giovanardi, Turkington and Fifth Gear presenter and racing driver Jason Plato were all vying for the title. Ultimately, it was to be Colin’s day and he won with some style on […]

Flavio Briatore Is Gone… Now What For Renault F1

September 18, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

This year has been a tumultuous one for F1 – with more stories, scoops and changes than just about any other sport. It’s certainly living up to being the ‘pinnacle’ of motorsport, though some would argue for all the wrong reasons. Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds have both quit the Renault F1 team, following revelations […]

Ford Confirms Continuation In WRC

August 5, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

I’m sure that all of you WRC fans are happy to hear that Ford confirmed continued commitment to the sport prior to Rally Finland. We can only hope that Subaru returns to join them too (given the low-profile and much derided hatch version of the Impreza it can only do them good).

Be Careful At The Nurburgring…

August 1, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Apparently, the police at the Nurburging have tightened regulations, which means that your car could be impounded (or possibly worse) if your car doesn’t meet the regulations.  Here’s the press release (with my emphasis attached): A NEW crackdown has been launched by the RheinlandPfalz Police, in and around the Nürburgring region. Police are sending out […]

The British GT At Knockhill (Part 1)

June 23, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

The British GT

I’m fairly confident in saying that whilst this is certainly not the last time I’ll be attending the British GT as it was some bloody brilliant motorsport (GT3 and a couple of GT4 cars in case any of you were paying attention or were actually there), I can safely say that it’s the last time […]

Peugeot Are Le Mans 24 Hours 2009 Champions

June 17, 2009 by Mr Butterscotch Leave a Comment

Le Mans

Whilst I was away, the Le Mans 24 Hours race was taking place.  Audi and Peugeot have previously fought tooth and nail for position at the front of the grid, especially as recent rules have favoured diesel engines.  This has meant that both teams have fielded extraordinarily powerful LMP (Le Mans Prototypes) that feature engines […]
