It was confirmed that the government would be providing a mammoth £200 million to tackle pot holes in the UK. However, some estimate that the damage is far greater than this value on UK roads. It remains to be seen how the cash will be spent in reality and whether temporary measures will again be opted for rather than something more permanent.
The IAM gave the following response to the announcement:
IAM director of policy and research Neil Greig said: “Every little helps and it will be welcomed in many areas hit by this year’s bad weather. With a ten billion pound back log in repairs however, it is only through consistent long term funding that the pothole problem can finally be fixed.”
How are the roads near to you? My local roads are reasonable although works seem to take forever.
