In what is sure to be one of the most exciting motorsport events on the calendar this year, 2014 sees the start of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The first round is a two day event that will be staged at the popular Lydden Hill venue in Kent over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (24-25 May). The organisers are aiming for a capacity crowd to mark the historic occasion.
In a deliberate move to reward existing rallycross fans, as well as to attract new audiences, adult tickets are available from just £20 if purchased in advance with free admission offered to accompanied children aged 12 and under. Attractively priced upgrades are also offered for those seeking grandstand seats, camping and VIP hospitality. “We are honoured and excited to bring the thrilling new World Rallycross Championship to Lydden. We want as many people as possible to share what’s going to be an amazing, action-packed event – that’s why we’ve priced our tickets so competitively,” explained circuit owner Pat Doran. “That said, we do have limited capacity, so we strongly advise those planning to come to Lydden to book early and take full advantage of the significant discounts we are offering in advance. We are expecting a complete sell-out.”
Lydden Hill has already announced a raft of upgrades in preparation for its inaugural world championship motor sport event. What’s more, several famous names have already confirmed that they will be rolling up their sleeves to compete in the flame-spitting premier RX supercar class. Petter Solberg, the 2003 FIA World Rally Champion, is one of a number of international stars contesting the full FIA World Rallycross Championship, while reigning BTCC champion Andrew Jordan will be a notable ‘wild-card’ entrant at Lydden. A host of other superstar drivers will be announced in the coming weeks as well as a full support package of exhilarating entertainment for all ages.
